Highlighting continuous investment and local infrastructure as connectivity accelerates
OKLAHOMA CITY (October 12, 2026) — As demand for high-speed connectivity continues to grow across Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas, Dobson Fiber is marking its 90th anniversary by highlighting the essential role reliable, locally built infrastructure plays in helping people and communities stay connected, access opportunity and thrive for generations to come.
With humble beginnings, founded in 1936 as a single telephone exchange in western Oklahoma, the privately owned telecom pioneer has spent nearly a century constructing and strengthening the state's digital backbone. Along the way, Dobson Fiber has built the largest privately owned network in Oklahoma. Its regional network today spans more than 8,800 miles and reaches more than 60 communities, connecting suburban corridors, key regional hubs and rural towns across Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas.
"Ninety years ago, my family started this company on a simple belief: that the people of rural Oklahoma deserved the same connections as anyone else," said Everett Dobson, Executive Chairman of Dobson Fiber. "Every generation of our family and every member of our team has carried that belief forward. This milestone belongs to the employees and customers who have trusted us for nine decades, and it reminds us that our best work is still ahead."
Dobson Fiber is using its 90th anniversary not only to celebrate where it has been, but to look ahead at where it is going next. The company continues to expand its high-speed broadband network in both rural and urban communities, delivering internet speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second for residential customers and up to 400 gigabits per second for business customers. Recent multi-million-dollar investments in Oklahoma communities including Ada, Ardmore, Henryetta and others demonstrate Dobson Fiber's continued commitment to expanding high-speed connectivity. Looking ahead, the company is adding more expansion areas in Oklahoma City and Edmond, bringing fiber to more neighborhoods and business corridors.
"Building reliable broadband infrastructure requires a lasting commitment to showing up, investing and staying," said Patricia Martin, Chief Executive Officer of Dobson Fiber. "For 90 years, our team has lived, worked and operated in the very same communities we serve. As we reach this historic milestone, we are expanding our Oklahoma City and Edmond areas, giving both rural and urban communities the high-performance internet they need to thrive."
Dobson Fiber's infrastructure-first philosophy was recently recognized by independent industry analyst ISP Reports, which named the company the state-level leader for both Fastest Residential Internet and Top-Rated Residential Internet in Oklahoma. Based on live-verified customer data, the recognition reinforces the speed, reliability and quality of Dobson Fiber's locally owned and maintained network.
