Dobson Fiber, an Oklahoma privately-owned high-speed internet provider, announces another fiber-optic network expansion throughout Oklahoma and Arkansas, expanding further into territories already served.

Within the past year, hundreds of miles of new fiber have been added with six new Fiber to the Home market launches. In addition, Dobson announced an agreement with Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) to upgrade the resiliency and capacity of the company’s communications network backbone. Through the agreement, the two Oklahoma headquartered companies will build approximately 350 miles of new fiber. In total, these new expansions bring Dobson’s network to approximately 4,900+ route miles of fiber optic infrastructure.

“Our goal is to look for opportunities to expand Dobson’s high-speed fiber internet to communities and businesses across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and the Texas panhandle,” Matt Milliron, Chief Revenue Officer said. “With Dobson’s investment in building fiber-optic networks throughout the region, the number of addressable business buildings eligible for fiber-based voice and data services has grown to more than 40,000 buildings. That is an increase of more than 28% in just the past year.”

“This aggressive expansion illustrates Dobson’s commitment to bringing high-speed fiber to businesses who have historically been served from legacy cable or copper infrastructures,” said Ryan Lahmann, Senior Vice President of Wholesale Sales & Indirect Channels. “Those older networks typically involve slower and less reliable data transmission when compared with fiber. We strive to help businesses grow with the latest technologies, no matter if they are located in metro or rural communities.”

Dobson is the only Oklahoma-owned network operator with diverse fiber paths to Dallas. Having redundant paths offers value for businesses seeking reliable connections to cloud providers, such as Amazon’s AWS and Microsoft’s Azure platforms.
