FAQs

  • Fiber optic internet produces faster data transfer speeds via the use of light pulses that send data at faster speeds through the use of a glass tube. This type of internet connection is more expensive and complex to install. However, it produces an extremely fast connection over extended distances. Usually the longer the distance the slower your Internet connectivity will be, but this is not the case with fiber optic Internet.

  • Fiber internet allows you to stream HD videos, movies, TV shows and game online with better quality and faster speeds. With our 1 GIG plan, stream at least 5 high-definition videos simultaneously and still have enough bandwidth to email and surf the web. Many fiber internet customers are cutting cable or satellite television services and using streaming devices such as Smart TVs, Roku Streaming Player, Amazon Fire TV Stick, and others—ultimately saving you money!

Things you can do with a 1 GIG connection:

    • Higher quality video streaming

    • Higher picture resolutions and higher frame rates

    • Lots of household devices using the internet at the same time with no interruptions

    • Video Calls

    • Cloud Gaming

  • Dobson Fiber has been in business since 1936 and we are headquartered in Oklahoma. We offer local support and 24/7 technical support.

Dobson does not require a contract for residential internet or phone plans.

Plus, we don’t cap your data, it’s unlimited — use as much as you want!

  • Most DSL and cable internet plans don’t offer symmetrical speeds—with these types of internet, your download speed is typically 10, 20, or even 30 times faster than your upload speed. This is called asymmetrical internet.

Dobson offers symmetrical internet speeds which provide the same upload speeds as your download speeds.

  • At Dobson, we send our bills at the beginning of each month. In addition, we bill our services in advance, so the first bill may be higher than expected.

This is because your first bill will reflect one full month of service plus the period immediately after your internet was installed.

What does installation look like at my home?

After you schedule your fiber internet install, the process will follow as outlined below.

The Fiber Installation

Our technician will determine the most efficient way to get the fiber cable from our distribution point to your residence. This is generally pre-determined, prior to the fiber installation. On your scheduled install time, the technician will arrive, run a fiber optic cable (Drop Cable) from the distribution point to your residence.

Generally, Dobson Fiber will install the Drop Cable in the same manner that your current utilities are attached to your residence. The Dobson technician will work with you to determine the most efficient method and placement of the Dobson Fiber equipment.

As soon as your fiber installation is complete, you can start enjoying your fiber fast internet!

If your installation is in the ground vs aerial, Dobson’s fiber installation is minimally invasive. We use a Vibratory Plow which opens up the ground and fiber is inserted, then the ground is put back into place. This is not trenching like you would see for a traditional sprinkler system. In some cases, we may need to lay fiber cable on the ground and out of the way until a crew comes back a few days later to bury.
