GIS Operator

SUMMARY:

Maintains the OSP records and standards compliance for Dobson Technologies and Dobson Telephone companies.  Position will update records of Dobson Technologies OSP GIS records software (Circuit Vision) and maintain existing records for the Dobson Telephone Companies for internal and external construction builds.  GIS Operator will review as-builts, blueprints, drawings, change orders, and specifications to verify completeness and accuracy of data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Under general supervision of the Fiber Operations Manager, the GIS Operator has the responsibility to maintain and oversee OSP records, records architecture and standards
  • Input and track all OSP plant assets into record keeping software (Circuit Vision)
  • Ensure proper processes are followed to ensure that records are entered and maintained accurately and consistently
  • Evaluate, maintain and verify existing and new GIS records for the LEC telephone companies
  • Fiber capacity management
  • Produce reports as needed to reflect various OSP assets
  • Ensure that plant records are effectively protected
  • Filing and organizing the office
  • Assist team in troubleshooting and tracking issues, presents creative solutions
  • Correlate and obtain desired records and papers upon request
  • Does related work as required

 REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES:   

  • Thorough knowledge of engineering office practices and engineering record keeping
  • Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Skilled in the use of automated equipment for the purpose of maintaining detailed records, files and generating reports
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions
  • Ability to work under pressure with good organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Takes initiative in recognizing need for improvement in, or adaptation of, existing systems and effecting changes in them
  • Tracks down missing and misfiled items and is accurate in filing
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science degree preferred and/or a minimum of three to five years outside plant database experience, which includes the knowledge and experience in records management and reporting.
