Desktop Support / Jr. Server Administrator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Desktop Support / Jr. Server Administrator you will be resolving helpdesk tickets for Dobson Technologies employees, install, upgrade and patch OS and software for desktops, laptops and server platforms, and support team members on IT related tasks and projects.

DUTIES:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve issues with hardware, software, networking, email, virtual desktop, mobile devices, connectivity, etc.
  • Install and configure new hardware and software for desktops, laptops and servers
  • Perform basic wired and wireless network troubleshooting
  • Interact with all levels of employees with strong emphasis on customer service
  • Maintain and improve proficiency in technical fields of expertise
  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in using helpdesk systems, tools, and procedures
  • Track and maintain small hardware inventory and coordinate warranty service when needed
  • Test new hardware and software
  • Instruct staff in the basic use of approved hardware, software, and security best practices
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff
  • Develop, document and communicate job processes, procedures and techniques

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • IT related degree or 3 years recent IT experience; Technical certifications very helpful
  • Proven IT troubleshooting expertise (hardware, software, networking, operating systems)
  • Strong experience with Windows desktop operating systems and Office products
  • Security solutions experience (antivirus, anti-malware, anti-spam) and best practices
  • Proven ability to multi-task with meticulous analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:

  • Windows Server OS experience 2008-2016
  • Server admin tools (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, WSUS)
  • VMware virtual environments (virtual machines, VDI-virtual desktop infrastructure)
  • Microsoft Exchange and/or Office 365
  • Mobile device management software and concepts
